Mailman Returns Bag Full of Money

When he found a bank bag full of cash, a Grand Rapids mail carrier says he did  what any of his co-workers would do. Mailman Mike Wisneski turned the money in so it could be claimed by its rightful owner.

Reporter, Phil Dawson, explains where the money was found, who lost it and how they feel to have it back.

Mailman Mike Wisneski ways he’d never seen so much money. It looked like thousands and my heart was racing a little bit, but that would be expected I never held this much money you know.

Wisneski found the money along a sidewalk at the blodgett campus of spectrum health. I pick it up unzipped it oh boy that’s full of money zipped it closed. Welcome to Subway.

The money was from the subway store in eastown…the owner’s step-son was taking it to the bank as soon as he delivered some take-out food .

He was running to do a delivery at spectrum hospital and as he was getting out of the car it fell out of his pocket. Looked like rubber banded twenties mostly like it could have been a lot of money.

Mailman Mike took the bag of money inside and turned it over to the hospital receptionist. I was thinking someone will really miss this.

And a few minutes later the delivery man came asking about it. He said did anyone turn in a bank bag and she said yes he  was like. Did you ever think i could keep the money no i never thought i could keep this money i might have thought of things i could have bought with it later but I never thought of keeping it no

You cant not say thank you a million times and so thank you a million times its a wonderful thing in today’s world. I know all my fellow employees would have done the same thing if it happened to them so i don’t feel any more special for that. Copyright 2008 The E.W. Scripps Co. All rights reserved.
